Our Daughter Taught Us This Secret About Love and Encouragement
Welcome to Marriage Minute, I'm Michelle. And I'm Steve. And today we're talking about encouragement.
So in our house, we love to be as supportive and encouraging as we can, not just in our marriage, but for the sake of building strong, confident kids. And so we're always telling our daughter Evie and affirming her with, you're beautiful, you're loved, you're kind, you're sweet, you're gentle, and on and on and on. And one of the unintended consequences of us encouraging and affirming her is that she learned how to encourage and affirm us.
Just the other day, she was telling me, Mommy, I love you so much, because you are kind and gentle. And you cook good food. And you're the best mommy in the whole world.
And of course, that had mommy crying and daddy tearing up because, well, one of all the parenting fails that we have, we felt like maybe we got something right, we have taught her how to encourage and affirm others. And then two, because she expressed that she actually loves us. So we had all the warm fungies inside.
Yeah, so we all know how important encouragement is for relationships is definitely important in building a strong marriage. And so our challenge to you today is to encourage your spouse Evie style in a long, exhaustive list form. And so you can tell them dear husband or dear wife, you're beautiful, you're strong, you're kind, you're resilient, and on and on and just do it a long list form, they might think you're a little bit weird for going on and on, but just keep going.
You might find that your marriage is strengthened and encouraged by it.
