How To Respond When Someone Raises Their Voice (Clip)

We can get loud when we are passionate about making our point. And if you are on the receiving end of this loudness, something that you may not want to say is, why are you yelling right now? Or don't yell, stop yelling. Because a lot of times that person is not thinking they're yelling.

A lot of times, sometimes they're happy to yell. But that will make them feel defensive. We have definitely been there.

What I would say is instead of saying stop yelling, you can say, honey, your volume is getting louder. Just letting you know. And if they weren't really meaning to, because sometimes it just happens, they go, oh, sorry about that.

And you just watch it, right? Or you can even say it's making you feel a little bit uneasy right now or whatever. But yes, be aware of your volume.
