From Dreaming To Partnership (Clip)

Don't discount any dreams. Don't say that any dream is bad or good from the get-go. Oh, well, that seems like a superficial dream.

Oh, that seems like it's motivated by the wrong reason. That seems like it's not noble enough. Whatever it is, you have someone who's your partner.

You can talk together and just talk it out and say like, well, why do you want a vacation to Hawaii? Why do you want a Tesla? Why do you want this amount of money? Why do you want this type of job? Why do you want this type of house? Why do you want to start this new business? I always said that I was going to finally go out and try to start my own thing or I've been in this job long enough. It's time for me to move into another career or maybe this was the year that you finally buy a house. And I don't know what it is for you, but I want to invite you to allow yourself to dream.

What are those dreams? Put it down together, not just in your head, not just mentioning it here and there. Put it down on paper. Have either a joint dream or you understand what your spouse's dreams are, what their hopes are, the things that really burn in their heart, that if only life was like this, if only I could attain this, then I would feel whatever.

And again, maybe those things aren't really what will bring you true happiness. That's not the point. The point is when you understand what makes them tick, now you can support them.

Now you can encourage them. Now you can say, how can I help you towards that? Or if it's a goal that you have as a couple, now you go, okay, well, how do we make this work together? And you start to get into that partnership mode. For this year, we have this really grand vision.

I don't know if it's going to happen, but what it takes is a little bit of sacrifice on both of our parts and you start working together, where if you hadn't talked about it, life goes on.
