Allow Your Partner To Feel Heard (Clip)
The truth is, sometimes it's just about talking. Sometimes really the person brought it up because all they wanted to do was feel heard. And all they wanted to do was express.
And they needed to get it off their chest. And that's it. And you don't have to always say, oh, okay, honey, so how do we fix this? Like, I wrote everything that you said down.
This is what I would do if I were you. Sometimes they don't want to hear that. Sometimes it's just like, honey, I'm so sorry that you felt that way.
And I'm sorry for my part in it. You talk these things out and you realize it actually wasn't a big deal. I just kind of wanted to let you know how I felt.
But you listening to me actually makes me feel like I realized, oh, you didn't mean it that way. A lot of times all you did was listen and they realized, oh, I wanted to come to you because I was mad about something or I was annoyed at something. But now I realize, oh, we're actually on the same team.
The way you demonstrated your care, the way that you demonstrated your communication. Yeah, I was just overthinking it.
